Ruchi Ambike

Ruchi was diagnosed with IgA Nephropathy (IgAN) in 2001, and did not encounter another individual with the condition until 2023. This experience motivated her to connect with others facing the same challenges.

As the IgA Nephropathy Foundation’s Canadian Lead Ambassador, she dedicates her time to raising awareness and advocating for Canadians with IgA Nephropathy. Ruchi also sits on the Canadian Society of Nephrology Advocacy Committee, where she brings the patient voice to the table. Recently, Ruchi has taken on the role as Patient Engagement & Education Lead as she helps develop IgAN Canada Hub, a new initiative to provide support and education to IgAN patients and their families.

In her professional life, Ruchi is a paediatric speech-language pathologist, working with autistic children and their families, in her private practice.

Ruchi is married with two sons and two beagles, and believes in living life to its fullest. She hopes that in sharing her lived experiences with IgAN, she can help patients navigate their journeys and feel supported while still maintaining balance in their lives. She firmly believes in a collaborative approach, with organizations working together to help improve the lives of patients with kidney disease.

“My journey with IgAN was one of not knowing what to expect, lack of support, and isolation. My hope is that no other patients will face these same issues.”
